Cinemax lifted the curtain on the first teaser trailer for their period drama, The Knick. There’s not really much to see in this preview, certainly living up to its designation as a tease. Not even one friggin’ frame of the weeks-long film shoot that transpired on Orchard Street last November. Instead we hear a pulse beating while various scenes of hospital beds and equipment flash across the screen; the saying “surgery wasn’t always science” is also wheeled out.

The Knick is a turn-of-the-century drama that focuses on the staff of the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York City circa 1900. Clive Owen stars and Steven Soderbergh is in the director’s chair.

You’ll recall that film crews had transformed the “museum block” of Orchard and Broome into a bustling turn-of-the-century marketplace. We saw everything from plastic horses, carriages, and faux Kosher delis.

Don’t call it a BK bust just yet. The Burger King on Delancey Street continues its devolution, but we are assured it remains operational. Despite its looks.
