Looks like the Spur Tree on Orchard Street has been stumped.

We ambled past 76 Orchard yesterday and found it shuttered and seized. That’s right; a Marshal’s notice on the door indicates that the Jamaican-style hang was officially evicted on March 3. However, the bar had a going away party the night before, and concurrently announced that it’s currently moving to a new unknown location.

Meanwhile, the landlord is now in possession of the premises. If past is precedent, it won’t be long before another operator seizes on the territory.

Spur Tree was founded at 76 Orchard in 2007 as a revival of the storied Red Stripe bar, which Marc Solomon had first opened on Crosby Street ten years earlier. However, there was a management shakeup shortly after opening, leading to the name in use.
