Celebrity Tattoo Artist Bang Bang Closes Clinton Street Studio

Bang, bang. It looks to be over.

Tattooist for the stars, the venerable Bang Bang (aka Keith McCurdy), appears to have shuttered his two-year-old studio at 26 Clinton Street. The security gates are mostly closed and locked these days, and the storefront menu box is empty.

Phone calls go unanswered, and the outgoing message reveals nothing of their fate. Yet, more telling is the fact that the entire space was completely cleared of its contents. We spotted some retail hopefuls checking out the store yesterday. Seems perfectly situated to become another gallery.

The pursuits of Bang Bang always seem to end up in the tabloids, whether it’s getting fined for allowing Justin Bieber to tattoo him, or branding Rihanna with an Egyptian falcon.
