Rochelle’s on Chrystie Has Reopened After FDNY Shutdown

Last Saturday, the FDNY came down hard on Leave Rochelle Out of It, the kitschy whiskey bar that opened at 205 Chrystie Street back in November. The inspection arrived on a big money day – the Kentucky Derby – and resulted in the issuance of a Full Vacate Order. As of today, both the ground level and basement club remain shuttered.
A tipster alleges that the fire department is involved thanks largely to some flashy liquored-up pyrotechnics. Apparently, the bartenders regularly blow fire, light sparklers, and ignite different drinks on the bar.

UPDATE: Rochelle’s is back open. The pyro claim was denied by their PR at Entertainment Fusion Group, but no explanation given for the closure. Still shady.
Could this be, in the words of Eater, the next “super flop” at 205 Chrystie?
