The corner of Orchard and Broome

For a week in November of last year, Cinemax monopolized Orchard Street, transforming the “museum block” into a turn-of-the-century set for The Knick. We saw dirt and horse-drawn carriages imported, storefronts masqueraded, and period-specific costumes.

Now, more than six months later, a second, more rounded-out trailer for the freshman cable series is live. One brief exterior scene shot on Orchard Street made it into this cut. Here we see the corner of Broome from a vantage point above Dudley’s. The store which previously held Earnest Sewn was changed to “The Stag’s Head.”

The Knick is a turn-of-the-century drama that focuses on the staff of the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York City circa 1900. Clive Owen stars and Steven Soderbergh is in the director’s chair.
