Sutra Finds New Suitor in Murray Hill’s Mercury Bar

That headline pretty much sums it up.

It appears as though owner Ariel Palitz – member of the SLA subcommittee of Community Board 3 – is ditching Sutra Lounge after all. Paperwork submitted ahead of this month’s meeting reveals a new suitor for the nightclub at 16 First Avenue. One Keith McKeon (aka Allyn LLC), current operations manager at Mercury Bar in Murray Hill.

The news is not completely shocking. Palitz placed Sutra on the open market a number of times since 2011. Finally, a taker.

Palitz opened Sutra ten years ago at 16 First Avenue.

Her presence on the CB3 panel is an oft-discussed topic, since neighbors often accuse her of voting in favor of nearly every nightlife applicant. Sutra itself last made substantial headlines back in 2008 when a jealous girlfriend attacked her hubby with a broken bottle.

Wonder if the East Village is still “ripe for the picking…”
