100 Montaditos Opened Its 2nd Manhattan Location at 177 Ludlow Yesterday

The remnant plywood shed was removed from 177 Ludlow Street earlier this week to unveil the second Manhattan location of 100 Montaditos. Yesterday was the official debut, celebrated with a two-for-Tuesday promotion of two free montaditos during lunchtime (noon and 3pm).
The Spanish-based fast food chain replaces the beloved EarthMatters store, which ceased operations in the fall of 2012 after eleven years in business. Here you can find a menu consisting of 100 different bite-sized sandwiches and salads in the tradition of Basque sensibility. Or so they would you have believe.
100 Montaditos carries a wine and beer license for its establishment, and a facade that opens completely to the elements. Expect an application for full OP upgrade in the coming months.
Controversial property owner Samy Mahfar purchased the five-story building for $5.9 million in 2012.
