The ground level of 115 Stanton Street underwent quite the makeover these last few months. Conversion from the backroom catering kitchen of El Nuevo Amanecer to front-house cafe have been in play since February, when the windows were first covered with yellowing newspaper.
The owner confirmed the identity of the newcomer as “Green and Brown,” a shoebox coffee shop that will roast its beans onsite. In fact, the name itself is an allusion to the state of beans from plant to mug. There will also be a menu of light bites offered. Decor is of the farmhouse flavor, with rustic trinkets and antique sundries scattered about.
Green and Brown opens up tomorrow. Its most immediate competition in these parts is El Rey, which is just across Ludlow Street.
