The SKINnY Set to Return to Orchard Street After 2 Year Hiatus

Narrow Orchard Street dive, The SKINnY Bar & Lounge, closed way back in 2012. That’s an eternity by city standards. The reason for its (temporary) shutter was an expansion into the neighboring store that previously housed Elegant Woolen & Silk. Since then, never-ending construction on the neighboring Orchard Hell Building (i.e. Hotel Indigo) has consumed the whole block. Half the roadway is usually cordoned off as storage for building materials.
But behind that sidewalk bridge at 174 Orchard Street, build-out has been gradually progressing and is nearly complete. Just yesterday, the plywood shed was peeled away to reveal the new black-and-olive trim. The reincarnated SKINnY is completely red (inside) and much “fatter” than its old setup. It probably won’t be anything like you remember…
Meanwhile, their liquor license is up for renewal at the end of September, so don’t be surprised to see it on next month’s SLA agenda.
