Rayuela on Allen Street is Currently Closed for Unspecified ‘Renovations’

Rayuela on Allen Street is the latest Lower East Side restaurant to employ ye olde unannounced shutter for “renovations” trick. The popular “freestyle Latino” joint (also known for its brunch) abruptly closed within the last couple days to change things up. Scope of the so-called renovations is unknown to the public at the moment, and there is nary an announcement on the facade or via social media.
Boogie reader RobbieTheK tells us that the hostess at Rayuela is forwarding patrons to sister establishment Macondo, located right around the corner on East Houston. She apparently “gave me the impression they’d be back” at some point soon. So let’s mark this down as a 50-50 shot of reopening.
