Anthony Monticello Wants to Open a Third Bar at Division and Orchard Street

With the Jarmulowsky Bank hotel just a couple short years away, the surrounding area continues to brim with nightlife. Newcomers include Cochinita Dos, Skal, and the imminent arrival of Pies and Thighs, Three Points, and Ludlow Inn. Now the hot eastern front of Division Street is ready for its third liquor license.
According to application materials on file with Community Board 3, a proprietor of two midtown wine bars is eyeing Chinatown. 113 Division, in fact, which was heretofore an unlicensed location. Anthony Monticello, the big cheese at both Pino and Cello, apparently seeks full OP liquor privileges. The proposed eight-table establishment will boast a “taco cantina,” and operate until 2am through Wednesday and 4am Thursday through Saturday.
113 Division was – until this summer – home to a Chinese fabric store (Chuen Lee Fabrics). The place was always a cluttered disaster inside and closed shop after many years in operation. The leasing banners inevitably followed.
