Drivers Can No Longer Enter East 1st Street from Avenue A

As expected, East First Street just lost about a block of driving real estate. The dangerous merge from East Houston at Avenue A is fenced off while crews work to create a much larger sidewalk situation. This nascent plaza area is obviously pedestrian friendly, and will feature landscaping and seating. No more drag racing down this stretch.
Eastbound motorists must now enter First Street by making a right turn at Ludlow Street. So, technically Ludlow gains a bit of real estate north of Houston, no? Given that names change above Houston, what should it be called?
This reconfigured First Street is part of the overall reconstruction project of East Houston, from West Street to the FDR.
Time to update the maps.
