And now, a post-mortem for WD-50 on Clinton Street, which concluded its eleven-year run this past Sunday.

We ambled past yesterday evening only to find owner-chef Wylie Dufresne packing up the establishment that truly put him on the map. Geographically and culinarily. Dufresne and his team were loading up boxes in plain sight (i.e. floor-to-ceiling windows). There were others out there on the sidewalk taking pictures, too.

As we’ve been reporting for the past year, the one story row of retail at 50-62 Clinton is marked for the wrecking ball. DHA Captial LLC purchased the eight parcels for $28.95 million in September. When the smoke finally clears, we will eventually see seven stories of luxury condos of the one- and two-bedroom variety and costing in excess of $1 million. There is also a three-bedroom penthouse. All are on the smaller end of the spectrum.

Apparently DHA is targeting “first-time buyers and young professionals” (yuppies?).
