Happy Lunar New Year’s Eve! This year marks Chinatown’s 16th annual Lunar New Year’s Parade and Firecracker Ceremony, and the celebratory activities begin this week. Time to ring in the Year of the Ram.
Firecrackers will set off the festivities with a bang tomorrow (February 19) at Sara D. Roosevelt Park at 11am. The parade will march next Sunday (February 22) at 1pm, starting in Little Italy and herding through the main streets of Lower Chinatown/Manhattan. Cultural booths will be set up to explore in the aftermath of both events.
And as always, arrive early to the main attractions, because, as we’ve reported in prior years, the crowds are massive. But there are also plenty of other activities in the mix – check out the full schedule here. Baa ram ewe.
