An Early Look Inside Dimes 2.0 on Canal Street

You’re looking at the almost-ready interior of Dimes 2.0 at 49 Canal Street. The much larger space – now with an arched design – is easily twice the size of the OG location. As previously reported, it’ll offer an expanded kitchen, additional seating, and the benefits of a full liquor license (still pending at the State Liquor Authority).
49 Canal was cleared at the end of December, and construction permits filed some three weeks ago. Progress is fairly quick, it would appear.
One slight change in the narrative, though. The Division Street nook will be renamed Dimes Superette, not the new location as was initially pitched. There, they will sling dry goods, food to-go, and some sort of in-house apothecary.
49 Canal Street was briefly home to Cochinita Dos after Overseas Taste Restaurant went under back in 2012. The Mexican spot failed to garner a following with locals who often cited price points as deterrent.
