‘Pizza Beach’ on its Way to the Former Derby Space on Orchard Street

The Derby replaces Tiny Fork on Orchard St.
Ladies and gents, we might have a taker for Rob Shamlian’s embattled bar space at the corner of Orchard and Stanton Streets. The Derby (fka Tiny Fork) closed for good back in January, and advertised the business as for sale almost immediately. Looks like the controversial Martignetti brothers (Brinkley’s, East Pole) are grabbing the bait.
According to the April Community Board 3 agenda just released, Pizza Beach is gunning for 167 Orchard Street. This would be the second location for the company, which first opened on the Upper East Side last month. Pizza Beach promises “nutritionally dense” menu (i.e. health conscious) and boast a vibe that Eater describes as “something straight out of ’90s Malibu, Pizza Beach.”
We hear whispers from Hell Square over fears that Pizza Beach won’t be such a breeze, especially with the Brinkley’s peeps at the helm. After all, why does a pizzeria really need a full liquor license.
