Wassail debuts in Hell Square today after seven months of prep work. And it’s a milestone of some sort. Indeed, the cider-centric bar at 162 Orchard Street doesn’t want you to forget that it’s the only such dedicated destination in New York City.

The beverage list boasts an international variety of 80-100 different ciders served both via draught and by-the-glass. As for food, Chef Joseph Buenconsejo is in the kitchen creating a straight-up vegetarian menu with a British bent.

Wassail is the collective brainchild of Ben Sandler and Jennifer Lim, the same husband-wife team behind Kickshaw in Astoria.

No sign yet of the cider house rules…
