There is some renewed interest in the southeast corner of Ludlow and Grand.

For 341 Grand Street, inactive is the appropriate word here; a property that’s remained largely vacant for well over a decade. A tattered sign on its semi-permanent plywood boarding has previously advertised the boxy building for sale, but a transaction never happened. The corner property remained closed, its interior likely destitute.

That all changed last week with the unfurling of an epic leasing banner. Yes, Eastern Consolidated is now marketing 341 Grand as a prime retail opportunity. The entire building is for lease. A long-term “flagship” tenant is sought to occupy the three floors (4,200 square-feet) at a price of $25,000 per month. It’s obvious from the real estate listing that a chain of some kind is sought. What else can really afford that?

Of course the rendering supplied in the broker literature reimagines the stout property in a glitzy new makeover. One that will likely take awhile to complete. Seriously, this place needs a lot of work.

Meanwhile, this leasing opporunity notwithstanding, it appears that 341 Grand Street is concurrently for sale. Namazi Real Estate has the exclusive it seems. Though it’s likely outdated. We got a chuckle from the description in the broker babble…

This rare gem of a building, one of the few that’s yet to be developed in the neighborhood, is close to everything, from the hottest restaurants with nouvelle inspired cuisine on the menus to cafes run by hipster baristas commuting from Brooklyn to brew premium coffee as if it were whiskey aged in oak barrel.

Metro Acres Supermarket Finally Makes its Mark on Clinton Street

The transition is complete. More than a year into its tenancy at 175 Clinton Street, Metro Acres is now at home. In other words, store signage is finally in place, with nary a sign of Fine Fare. The changeover had been gradual since Metro took over, to say the least. First with repositioning (and upscaling) […]

Zazzy’s Pizza Soft Launches in the Old Home of Rosario’s

With Rosario’s Pizza now a proverbial footnote, its successor is now in play. Zazzy’s Pizza is now serving on Orchard Street, albeit in soft launch mode for the last couple weeks. For starters, the health-conscious pizzeria (there are plant-based vegan options) is open for dinner service, 5pm-10pm daily. The takeout window at 173 Orchard is […]

Of Arts and Oats: OATLY Over Little Italy

The long-shuttered Miss Paradis restaurant has been an eyesore of Little Italy since before the pandemic. This ill-fated eatery, which rose on a corner parking lot across from Old St. Patrick’s, closed its doors in 2018 after only a year in business (and four prior years of planning). Its gleaming rooftop apple did not live […]

The focus is a spin on traditional and family-inspired fare, with the […]
