LAVO Downtown Rumored for Failed Finale Space at 199 Bowery

With EMM Group gone, a changing of the guard is underway at 199 Bowery. Yet Lower Eastpacking is still the modus operandi for this locale.
Nightlife heavy-hitter Tao Group is taking over operations at 199 Bowery, as first reported earlier this month. Chris Santos – proprietor of sister haunts Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex – is to helm the new restaurant concept, presumably in the old front-of-house footprint of The General.
But what of the illegal backroom space that perviously housed Finale? Rumor has it that LAVO is planning to install a downtown outpost for the shi-shi club imprint. Deja vu, anyone?
With the 18,000 square-foot establishment firmly in the hands of Tao and Chris Santos, it’s looking unlikely that there will be any community amenity carved out of this beast. Even though the company is arguably ahead of EMM Group as far as running a tight ship, crowding and overall noise are still of concern to neighbors.
Heard the former Finale space will become LAVO Downtown.
