Jupiter is done with Mars.

The long-awaited Mars Bar replacement at Jupiter 21 formally announced itself to the neighborhood over the weekend. NatureEs, the bland health-conscious juicery, finally deposed the brown window paper after a six-month build out period. Signage is also in the windows of 21 East First Street, and while you can sneak a peek, the establishment won’t actually open for another week.

Launch date is May 11, according to EV Grieve.

As first reported last month, Naturees is a juice bar first and foremost. The main level offers organic coffees, teas, juice concoctions, the works. The downstairs space, meanwhile, is apparently a mini spa offering massages and facials. So we’re told.

Somewhat perplexing this establishment is. It carries a full liquor license and was long considered to be the second coming of Mars Bar (with Alain Palinsky, Chris Reda, Robert Montwaid, and original owner Hank Penza). NatureEs is a complete about-face. Of course, we can’t rule out the possibility of a drinking den here.

Metro Acres Supermarket Finally Makes its Mark on Clinton Street

The transition is complete. More than a year into its tenancy at 175 Clinton Street, Metro Acres is now at home. In other words, store signage is finally in place, with nary a sign of Fine Fare. The changeover had been gradual since Metro took over, to say the least. First with repositioning (and upscaling) […]

With Rosario’s Pizza now a proverbial footnote, its successor is now in play. Zazzy’s Pizza is now serving on Orchard Street, albeit in soft launch mode for the last couple weeks. For starters, the health-conscious pizzeria (there are plant-based vegan options) is open for dinner service, 5pm-10pm daily. The takeout window at 173 Orchard is […]

Of Arts and Oats: OATLY Over Little Italy

The long-shuttered Miss Paradis restaurant has been an eyesore of Little Italy since before the pandemic. This ill-fated eatery, which rose on a corner parking lot across from Old St. Patrick’s, closed its doors in 2018 after only a year in business (and four prior years of planning). Its gleaming rooftop apple did not live […]
