Munch Gallery Departs Broome Street After Almost 5 Years

The overloaded gallery district south of Delancey is down one. Munch Gallery, a narrow showroom that debuted at Broome Street nearly five years ago, is no longer in the game. Owner Lilian Munch decided to close shop in pursuit of “bigger venues” and to “continue the journey” elsewhere.
A “new chapter” is allegedly in the works, but timetable and location remain unknown. Reprinted below is the farewell letter to the Munch faithful, posted to the front door of Broome Street last week.
MUNCH GALLERY is moving out!
….to pursue bigger venues, and continue the exciting journey.
The curatorial vision will persist through various media and platforms, and I look forward to new adventures with the amazing roster of artists and collaborators.
The 4 ½ years on Broome Street have been the BEST EVER, and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous love and support.
I’m going to take a few months to gather everything, and set up for the new chapter. Munchgallery.com will remain.
Munch Gallery first opened on the block back in 2010.
