If Lovely Day gets its way, will it be one?

We are hearing some chatter of late that the decade-old Lovely Day cafe on Elizabeth Street has grand plans for the Lower East Side. In particular, sources say that the eclectic, yet popular Thai cafe hopes to open a location at 14 Orchard, currently home to the Alexander Olch tie boutique. So, trading tie for Thai, you might say.

As for Olch and his eponymous threads business, word on the street is that the operation will move to the corner of Canal and take the reins from the Chinese bodega Sheng Wang Market. No word on timeline for the shift to transpire, but the corner grocer was busy packing up its shelves over the holiday weekend. So the proverbial wheels are definitely in motion.

We’ve reached out to both Lovely Day and Alexander Olch, but have yet to receive a response.

Fun fact: the proprietors of Dimes (Sabrina De Sousa and Alissa Wagner), located around the corner, met while working at Lovely Day.
