Patrons of Hana Japanese Cuisine (aka Sushi Hana) at 111 Rivington Street won’t be happy with this news. The eatery was shuttered by the Department of Health last Tuesday after an inspection resulted in more than forty violation points. Mostly due to evidence of live rats and mice roaming (and probably feasting) on premise.
A subsequent inspection three days later turned up more violation points. Other problems include a non-vermin proof facility and improperly maintained food surfaces. Nevertheless, the establishment remains closed.
Sushi Hana first opened at 111 Rivington Street back in the fall of 2009. It replaced the reliable, decades-old H.H. Hardware. Yes, there are no hardware stores within Hell Square; M. Schames is on the border, though.
