Today is the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Let’s take a deep dive into some archival photographs showing the traditional observance of the high holiday on the Lower East Side. But first, the above is 7th Precinct Commanding Officer Steven Hellman partaking in Tashlich on the East River, the practice in which sins are symbolically absolved by tossing bread crumbs into a moving body of water
