Blessed Peacemakers relinquished control of 149 Ludlow Street in the summer of 2014. It was a tough run for the boutique, considering its entire two-years of existence were spent behind a business-killing shield of plywood and scaffolding. Seriously, construction on the block had a sidewalk bridge here for some four years. Until a couple months ago, in fact.

Only then did a retail replacement enter the fold. A newcomer is here, and more of the same. Boutique begets boutique.

Fashion upstart Carolina Sarria just tossed the dice, as it were. The illuminated, all-caps sign box now announces the imminent opening of her eponymous shop. An explanation of the brand from her website:

Carolina Sarria believes that no matter how wild she is inside, the modern woman must embody elegance. Sarria uses sleek silhouettes and luxurious fabrics to blend strength and femininity, creating exclusive designs that stay true to both sides of an independent woman’s nature.

A native of Cali, Colombia, the designer moved to New York at a young age to break into the fashion world. After studying Fashion Design at the prestigious Art Institute of New York City, she launched her first collection in a private 2011 fashion show. The audience response was overwhelming, and demand for her pieces quickly grew. Encouraged by this auspicious beginning, Carolina founded her namesake brand.
