From franks to falafels – that’s the retail narrative down at 201 Allen Street.

The former headquarters of flashy franks outpost Los Perros Locos now has a new permanent tenant on the way. It only took a month for the landlord to find a replacement for the yearlong “LESpace” incubator concept which closed in late August. Judging by the new poster in the window, a fast-food Mediterranean joint called Moemen King Shawarma is on the way.

Expect the usual – falafel, shawarma, shish-kebob, salads, and even vegetarian dishes. No word on opening date, just the typical “coming soon” teaser.

Los Perros Locos first opened at 201 Allen Street in February 2013. Owner Alex Mitow was able to attract some cult icons to dine here, including watermelon-smashing funny man Gallagher. But their tenure was short-lived, having last only a year-and-a-half. Mitow subsequently reimagined the space as “LESpace,” a food-based incubator space for pop-ups, chefs, etc.
