Once Alexander Olch moves his tie shop to the corner, 14A Orchard Street will welcome a new eatery. Per our previous reports, Lovely Day owner Kazusa Jibiki is taking over the lease for the new concept, which we now learn is a Japanese joint. And it’ll feature a three-year veteran vendor of the Essex Street Market.
According to the application paperwork submitted to Community Board 3, Jibiki has joined up with Atsushi Numata whose Ni Japanese Delicacies (known for their Bento Box) currently maintains a stall at the Essex Market. The seven-table, forty-two-seat establishment will offer “seasonal Japanese home cooking” and carry operating hours of 8am to midnight all days.

Since the applicant only seeks a beer-wine license, and agreed to pre-conditioned stipulations, the application was fast-tracked to approval by Community Board 3. It’s worth noting that 14A Orchard Street was previously unlicensed.
Below is a sample menu of fare to be offered.
