Iconic downtown designer Patricia Field announced in December that she was retiring after her impressive fifty-year run. At the time, the 74-year-old luminary noted that her namesake Bowery boutique would live through the springtime. Not the case, actually.
A recent email to “loyal” clients, obtained by Racked, indicates the closing is much sooner. As in, the end of February. The communique is quick to mention that this past weekend was literally “a wonderful mob scene.”
“Actually, the most touching reaction from so many people, has been a mix of sadness, appreciation, and well wishes,” the note continues.
Meanwhile, the store at 306 Bowery has been liquidating its inventory for a few weeks already. There is currently a 50%-off sale.
