The Landmarks Preservation Commission just unveiled a new interactive map tool to the masses. This new technology is years behind the curve, yet useful nonetheless. The map plots the hundreds of city-certified landmarks across the Five Boroughs, including overlays for any whole districts preserved.
In a nutshell, what this map illustrates for sure is that the Lower East Side needs better protection. Coverage is lacking. LPC really needs to consider the sweeping Historic District grassroots organizations are proposing south of Delancey Street.
