Year-old culinary startup, Maple, just skinned the storefront of 196 Stanton Street with vinyl teasers. This ground-level space – long a vacancy in these parts – is the forthcoming kitchen for the meal delivery concept.
Here’s how it works: the team of celebrity chefs, including David Chang and Soa Davies, cook meals in central kitchens, then dispatch orders to customers. Cost is $12 for lunches, and $15 for dinners (includes tax, tip, and delivery).
196 Stanton Street is one of said kitchens, serving those living and working on the Lower East Side.
The Karl Fischer-designed luxury residence at 196 Stanton Street – constructed across from low-income housing over five years ago – hasn’t had the best luck scoring retail tenants. Located on the eastern terminus, between Attorney and Ridge, it’s definitely off the beaten path. That also explains the constant supply of vacancies in the building.
