Judd Apatow productions sure love filming movies and television shows on the Lower East Side. From Girls to Trainwreck. His latest feature, The Big Sick, now carries that distinction, too.
Production is headquartered on Jefferson Street today, just below East Broadway.
The Big Sick is an indie romantic comedy that touches upon the challenges of a relationship between a Pakistani-born man and an American woman. It’s semi-autobiographical, written by Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and wife Emily Gordon, and directed by Michael Showalter. Ray Romano and Holly Hunter are also attached to the project.
