Get your mah jongg tiles ready; the annual Egg Rolls and Egg Creams Festival is hitting the Lower East Side this Sunday. The block party, now in its 16th iteration, is ready to dole out frothy beverages that are neither egg nor cream, along with myriad diverse activities and food celebrating the unique diversity of the neighborhood. If you’ll recall, last year the Eldridge Street Synagogue (the host) added empanadas to the mix, and with it, a welcomed expansion to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage of the community.
The festival will feature “klezmer, cantorial, Peking opera, bomba and plena music; mah jongg; community arts and crafts, and of course kosher egg rolls, egg creams, empanadas and other tasty traditional treats!”
Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 19, from 12-4pm at the Museum at Eldrige Street (12 Eldridge Street). You can also RSVP for this free event here.
