Yunnan Kitchen/BBQ Folds After 4 Years on Clinton Street

Clinton Street wasn’t too kind to the Yunnan Kitchen/BBQ restaurant. The farm-to-table Chinese restaurant will shutter on Thursday (June 30) after four years on the block. It’s just another victim in a line of foodie havens that have unsuccessfully tried to make it work here.
Yunnan Kitchen opened in 2012, having replaced the beloved Lucky that served the community for decades. A year into its run, founding chef Travis Post departed; then last summer, owner Erika Chou swapped the Kitchen for “BBQ” to breathe some new life into the business. However, the revamp didn’t attract enough crowds to bolster the bottom line, according to Eater.
Chou is now apparently headed to the Upper East Side to reboot; the new concept is “Chinese-centric but with a little more range.”
Long live Lucky…
