Take a peek. That there is the interior of the newest Chinatown eatery, Little Canal.

Under construction for seven months already, paper window treatments had obscured its identity until now. And judging by the progress within, a grand opening at 26 Canal Street can’t be too far off.

As previously reported, local photographer Jereme Barnas is behind Little Canal. His new seven-table American-style cafe will serve a menu of “breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, salads, and dinner.” CB3 backed Barnas’ bid for a beer-wine license back in January. The beer-wine license application was submitted to the State Liquor Authority back in May, but it’s still pending. Might explain the delayed launch.

Ultimately, two ground-floor spaces comprising 26 Canal were combined to create Little Canal. The Daylight Grocery Store, which recently moved around the corner to East Broadway, and most recently, the Miss Hoe pop-up boutique.
