MooShoes Vegan Shoe Shop on Orchard Street Closes for ‘Major Makeover’

Popular vegan shoe store, MooShoes, closed its doors yesterday evening in anticipation of a “major makeover” at its seven-year-old headquarters. The business spent the last week clearing its shelves with a deep clearance sale, and is now on the sidelines for the next month or so for remodeling.
Inventory is gone, and the overhaul is already underway. In fact, the Department of Buildings issued a permit for the renovation job just yesterday. The local firm Zeitgold Design was tapped for design duties. We’re told that MooShoes will be down for the next three weeks or so. Don’t be surprised if it’s longer…
MooShoes was co-founded in 2001 by Queens natives Erica and Sara Kubersky. Their original location was actually located, somewhat ironically, in a former Gramercy butcher shop. Two years later, the vegan shoe store relocated to 152 Allen Street where it resided for the next four years, before jumping further south in 2007 to its current home at 78 Orchard Street.
