MooShoes Returns with New Orchard Street Shop and Vegan Grocery

As promised, the nine-year-old vegan footwear shop, MooShoes, returned to the fray yesterday afternoon. The souped-up reboot is unrecognizable from its former setup.
“We’ve got a new look but we’re the same on the inside,” reads the triumphant Instagram post.
It’s more than that, though. The new version of cruelty-free MooShoes was carved from 78 Orchard Street with the intention of establishing a full service vegan grocery. As a result, the shoe store experience is now narrow and deep, with shoes and bags on wall shelving. The newly created retail extension, meanwhile, is dubbed Orchard Grocer and will feature an all-vegan deli, dry goods, and even soft serve ice cream. Debut is on schedule for sometime in “mid-October.”

MooShoes was co-founded in 2001 by Queens natives Erica and Sara Kubersky. Their original location was actually located, somewhat ironically, in a former Gramercy butcher shop. Two years later, the vegan shoe store relocated to 152 Allen Street where it resided for the next four years, before jumping further south in 2007 to its current home at 78 Orchard Street.
