Proprietor Peter Poulakakos pulled the plug on his lighting district restaurant-bar, Bacchanal, last December. It barely lasted two years at 146 Bowery. In the intervening nine months, the only real visible activity here has been the installation of a plywood shed spanning the corner storefront, and a temporary paint job for Fashion Week.

And now that frontage boasts the next in line…

Street artist Haculla was tapped to announce the arrival of something called “Esther & Carol Bistro” at 146 Bowery, as well as a complementary E&C Burger eatery. The project seems to be the handiwork of former head chef for Pulqueria, Coby Farrow. (He lasted two months there before his termination, according to a Pulqueria spokesman.) At the moment, the inactive liquor license on file is still under Bacchanal ownership.

Farrow himself mentioned to The Network Journal last spring that the restaurant would pay homage to his late mother. “It will be a home style place that serves great food and offers something special and unique to our customers,” he told the publication.

Otherwise, more concrete information isn’t handy. An application has yet to cross Community Board 3, either.

Our request for comment from Farrow himself was not immediately returned. We’ll keep you posted…
