The local resident hit by a truck on Pike Street at the end of August died earlier this month from his injuries.

On August 22, Seward Park Extension public housing tenant Miguel DeJesus, 67, was reportedly jaywalking on the south side of Division, crossing Pike Street from east to west. The truck allegedly had right of way when he “walked into the front passenger side of vehicle, and was knocked to the ground,” according to police.

According to The Villager, an investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2005 Mack Utility Roll-Off Container Carting Truck, operated by a 57-year-old male, was traveling northbound when it happened, and had the steady green light.

DeJesus was pronounced deceased on September 6 at Bellevue Hospital.

The incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
