‘Tommy’s Egg Kitchen’ Pops Up at the Former Rayuela on Allen Street

Over at the former Rayuela on Allen Street, Top Chef winner Michael Voltaggio just installed a two-day pop-up dedicated to eggs. Tommy’s Egg Kitchen, as the creation is called, is serving “scotch egg tastings, cook-off challenges against local notable chefs, and cocktail pairings with Dewar’s Blended Scotch Whisky.”
Today is the last day before this storefront again returns to a retail dormancy.
Indeed, it’s pretty clear that the owner of 165 Allen Street still can’t unload the space. Rayuela closed back in June 2015 and a permanent occupant hasn’t signed on yet. Only a series of pop-ups and private parties. Perhaps it’s the astronomical rents, which according to past listings, was hovering at around $20,000 per month.
