Cursed ‘Lowlife’ Space On Stanton Street Hits the Market Again

The curse of 178 Stanton Street certainly is alive and well.
In the four years prior, three different bar-restaurants tried to make a go of it, all failing in short order. The latest, Lowlife, shuttered back in June after a six month run; it was preceded by the Moldy Fig (d. February 2012) and Stanton Kitchen (d. June 2015).
A recent real estate listing is now asking for $14,000 per month
This location is really a tough sell for any establishment that tries to attract the upscale foodie crowd. It’s off the Clinton Street restaurant row, and a dim-lit street, at that. The high rents don’t bode well, either.
