Ramen season is definitely upon us. And here’s another Chinatown establishment to test.

Lanzhou Ramen debuted last week at 107 East Broadway, thus concluding the tenant drought here. The requisite grand opening flags dangle from the entryway.

This wasn’t the original plan for the ground level of 107 East Broadway, though. Last December, a gaggle of investors tried to install a bar-restaurant here called Box Hill that would feature “farm-to-table modern British food.” Not surprising that it didn’t get off the ground.

Lanzhou Ramen is the first anchor occupant in the new 107 East Broadway. You’ll recall that this corner (at Pike Street) burned to the ground in a devastating fire in 2009. Permits for the commercial property were filed shortly after the fire, but construction didn’t begin until three years later. In that time, Marriott also built a Fairfield Inn in 2013, permitting another Chinese grocer to occupy the ground floor and basement space.
