Here’s one Santa who won’t be puking all over the Lower East Side.

That’s right: jolly old St. Nick is coming to the Lower East Side this weekend. It’s all part of Essex Street Market’s annual yuletide cheer, which includes making your own ornament, trimming the Market Christmas tree, and hot chocolate and candy canes for everyone, despite your placement on the holiday behavior lists. Bring your Christmas wishes and speak to the big guy in person.

Time is unfortunately fleeting for these kinds of festivities at the 76-year-old Essex Street Market. As previously noted, its eventual relocation to the shiny new Essex Crossing Site 2 is slated for sometime in 2018 (i.e. Market Line). Perhaps Santa could work some magic and turn back time on this front.

Santa will be at the Essex Market Saturday, December 3, from 3 to 7pm.

The pandemic takes another… Rosario’s Pizza, the iconic pizzeria that’s served the Lower East Side for nearly six decades, permanently closed its longtime restaurant earlier this month.
