Guess we can no longer trust Sleepy’s for the rest of our lives. All locations are henceforth rebranded as the rather antiseptic Mattress Firm.

The so-called “mattress professionals” at 250 East Houston is closed during this turnover period. It’ll reopen this Friday (January 13), if signs in the windows are to be believed.

This name change is a long time coming. More than a year, in fact. Mattress Firm, the largest mattress specialty retailer, agreed to purchase the Hicksville-based Sleepy’s in November 2015; the deal went through three months later for a reported $801.1 million.
