Post-Snow, the Lower East Side Dressed in White [PHOTOS]
Herewith, some photos from the first snowstorm of 2017 (and aftermath). All were shot in and around the Lower East Side with frozen fingers and wet camera lens.
A blanket of snow is the perfect equalizer; it levels the playing field. Run-of-the-mill tensions and stresses of living in the big city easily fade with each inch that falls. Traffic becomes non-existent, as the streets return to the pedestrian. Most people stay indoors, that feeling of holiday moves in. Fair-weather folk stay inside. Businesses temporarily close. Respite.
