MooShoes’ All Vegan ‘Grocer’ is Now Open on Orchard Street
MooShoes, the sixteen-year-old vegan shoe shop, lifted the veil on its spinoff grocer last week. Orchard Grocer is named as the newcomer, carved from said retailer into an adjoining entity at 78 Orchard Street.
As previously reported, the full service vegan grocery features an all-vegan deli, shelves of various dry goods, refrigerator units, and even a soft-serve ice cream machine.
The deli counter carries an impressive menu of “serious” faux sandwiches including the Bowery (tofu egg and tempeh bacon), the Edith (bagel with cashew cream cheese and carrot lox), and the Marlowe (reuben with beet-brined seitan).
Hours are 8am to 8pm.

MooShoes was co-founded in 2001 by Queens natives Erica and Sara Kubersky. Their original location was actually located, somewhat ironically, in a former Gramercy butcher shop. Two years later, the vegan shoe store relocated to 152 Allen Street where it resided for the next four years, before jumping further south in 2007 to its current home at 78 Orchard Street.
