Goa Taco Expands from the LES with New MacDougal Street Location
Two years after its founding, Goa Taco is expanding from the relative comfort of the Lower East Side.
Its owners, Duvaldi Marneweck and Ryan Chadwick (Goa is sidecar to his Grey Lady), raised the curtain yesterday on a new Greenwich Village outpost. Situated at 101 MacDougal Street, this teensy paratha taco stand appears smaller than the original.
Its presence in this spot could be construed as an aggressive play. Goa Taco decided to set up shop right beside the Kati Roll Company, which offers a similar product.
A third location was also announced for Santa Barbara, California.
When Goa Taco debuted its brick-and-mortar on Delancey Street in 2014, it became an instant success. However, the concept actually began as a pop-up beside Grey Lady, serving flatbread-taco hybrids that marry elements of Indian, Mexican and Vietnamese cuisine. The temporary status was short-lived and eventually transitioned into something more semi-permanent.
