Sunday morning, a 28-year-old man was found dead inside the East Broadway subway station. Police, responding to the 911 call, arrived at 8:26am and found the deceased unconscious, and sitting on the ground.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, but cause of death was not yet determined, police said. The 7th Precinct continues to investigate, and no arrests have been made.

This particular subway station, one of the largest on the Lower East Side, was voted in 2014 as having one of the worst interiors in the whole system. Conditions are decrepit and sometimes dangerous. It’s oftentimes shady and a choice refuge for the local homeless population.
