Suspect Arrested in Connection to Brutal Orchard Street Beatdown

One of the suspects involved in the vicious beating of a 24-year-old man on Orchard Street last week (March 10) was arrested by the 7th Precinct last night.

Detectives arrested Nawang Choying, and charged him with felony gang assault, police said. The second perp involved in the fight is still at large, but was identified by the authorities. His name is not yet public.

The victim, one William Franco, reportedly knew his attackers from an altercation at Pianos on Ludlow Street. Franco and his two future attackers reportedly got into a tussle inside the premises early Friday morning, police said. He was then booted from the bar, and waited for the suspects to exit.

The fisticuffs continued outside, at which point the Choying and friend chased Franco down Orchard Street and pummeled him on the sidewalk outside the Van der Plas Gallery. Surveillance video caught that gruesome scene.
