Following DKNY, Hollister Mural Disappears Behind 6-Story Office Development
Over at “SoHo’s most impactful corner,” 606 Broadway gradually ascends skyward, blocking out what was once a vacant sliver of city-owned land. Two towers of the rising superstructure are also starting to obstruct the Hollister ad branding on the north face of 600 Broadway.
Madison Capital, which purchased the 6,190 square-foot parcel from the city for $26 million, teamed up with Vornado (recent addition as partner) to construct the incoming six-story SoHo addition. Plans have been underway since 2014. The construction will include “modern” office space and retail on the ground floor. The finished product will carry a total floor area of nearly 35,000 square-feet split between the commercial and retail spaces. Stores won’t be “big box,” though, thanks to a protracted fight with the community a couple years ago.
Speaking of which, it’s been more than seven years since the iconic DKNY ad-mural was erased from the spot.
