A Return to the Madison Street Sinkhole
Emergency crews have returned to the site of that massive sinkhole that opened on Madison Street in early May, caused by a burst water main.
It appears the asphalt patch was reopened a couple weeks ago to allow for additional work. They drilled below the roadbed to install what looks to be new piping infrastructure. The project is slowly moving eastward toward Jefferson Street, opening one section of roadbed at a time.
As a result, the traffic situation is what you might characterize as a clusterfuck. Also, the M22 bus stop outside the McDonald’s is sidelined for the duration.
